Privacy Policy

MarketLink (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a peer-to-peer marketplace iOS application operated by LiinksGroup. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use the MarketLink app. By creating an account or using MarketLink, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

  1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

  • Account information: name, display name, username, email address, and phone number (collected and verified during registration).
  • Profile information: profile photo and any biography or about text you choose to add.
  • Listings: product titles, descriptions, prices, photos, and videos you upload when posting items for sale.
  • Messages: the content of direct messages you send to other users, and messages you post in The Lounge community chat rooms.
  • Transaction details: meetup arrangements, proposed meetup locations and times, agreed prices, and buyer deposit information processed through our payment partner Stripe.
  • Ratings and reviews: text reviews and star ratings you submit after a completed transaction.
  • Feedback and support: information you submit through in-app feedback forms, data export requests, or when contacting us at support@liinksgroup.com.
  • Reports: information you provide when reporting another user or listing for policy violations.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device and usage data: device type, operating system version, app version, and how you interact with the app (screens viewed, searches performed, listings tapped).
  • Analytics data: collected via Firebase Analytics to understand app usage patterns and improve features.
  • Crash reports: error logs and stack traces collected via Firebase Crashlytics to identify and fix bugs.
  • View and engagement data: we count how many times a listing is viewed or saved to improve feed relevance.

1.3 Information from Third Parties

  • Google Sign-In: if you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google.
  • Stripe: when a buyer places a deposit, Stripe processes payment details directly. We receive only a payment confirmation and transaction identifier; we do not store full card numbers or bank details.
  • Agora: if you use the in-app video calling feature, Agora facilitates the audio/video stream. Agora’s own privacy policy governs their data handling.
  • Firebase App Check: we use DeviceCheck and App Attest to verify that requests to our backend come from legitimate, unmodified versions of our app.
  1. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and maintain your account, authenticate your identity, and verify your phone number.
  • Display your listings and profile to other users of the marketplace.
  • Facilitate communication between buyers and sellers through direct messaging and The Lounge.
  • Process and coordinate in-person meetup transactions, including escrow deposits via Stripe.
  • Send push notifications about messages, meetup updates, and activity on your listings (you can manage notification preferences in Settings).
  • Personalize and rank the content feed using popularity signals such as view counts, save counts, and comment counts combined with relevance.
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and policy violations.
  • Improve app performance, fix bugs, and develop new features.
  • Respond to your support requests, feedback submissions, and data export requests.
  • Comply with legal obligations.
  1. How We Share Your Information

3.1 With Other Users

Your display name, username, profile photo, listings, ratings, and any content you post publicly (including Lounge messages) are visible to other users of MarketLink. Your phone number is not shared with other users.

3.2 With Service Providers

We share information with trusted third-party service providers that help us operate the app, including:

  • Google Firebase (Firestore, Storage, Authentication, Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging, App Check) — for database, file storage, authentication, analytics, and push notifications.
  • Stripe — for payment processing and escrow deposits.
  • Agora — for real-time video calling.

These providers are authorized to use your information only as necessary to provide services to us and are bound by their own privacy and security obligations.

3.3 For Legal Reasons

We may disclose your information if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect the rights or safety of MarketLink, our users, or the public, or respond to a valid legal request from government authorities.

3.4 Business Transfers

If LiinksGroup is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change in ownership or control.

3.5 No Sale of Personal Data

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. MarketLink does not display third-party advertisements.

  1. Data Retention

We retain your account information and content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information and content from our systems within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law or to resolve disputes.

You can request a copy of your data at any time through Settings → Data Export, and you can request account deletion through Settings → Delete Account.

  1. Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), Firebase App Check to prevent unauthorized API access, Firestore Security Rules to restrict data access to authorized users only, and Stripe’s PCI-compliant infrastructure for all payment processing.

No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

  1. Children’s Privacy

MarketLink is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@liinksgroup.com and we will delete that information promptly.

  1. Your Rights and Choices

7.1 Account Information

You can update your display name, username, profile photo, and other profile details at any time through Settings → Edit Profile.

7.2 Notifications

You can manage push notification preferences through your device’s notification settings or within the MarketLink app under Settings → Notifications.

7.3 Data Export

You can request a copy of your account data through Settings → Data Export. We will process your request and deliver your data within a reasonable timeframe.

7.4 Account Deletion

You can permanently delete your account through Settings → Delete Account. Deletion removes your profile, listings, and personal data from our systems, subject to legal retention requirements.

7.5 California Residents

If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete your information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information).   1. Third-Party Links and Services

MarketLink may contain links to third-party websites or services (for example, meetup location maps). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties and encourage you to review their privacy policies.

  1. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email before the changes take effect. Your continued use of MarketLink after the effective date of the revised policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
