MarketLink (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is a peer-to-peer marketplace iOS application operated by Liinks Group, Incorporated (“LiinksGroup”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use the MarketLink app. By creating an account or using MarketLink, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
Account information — name, display name, username, email address, and phone number (collected and verified during registration).
Profile information — profile photo and any biography or about text you choose to add.
Listings — product titles, descriptions, prices, conditions, photos, and videos you upload when posting items for sale.
Messages — the content of direct messages (Links) you send to other users, and messages you post in The Lounge, The Booth, and The Executive Suite community rooms.
Transaction details — meetup arrangements, proposed locations and times, agreed prices, buyer deposit information processed through Stripe, and cancellation and no-show history (a rolling 30-day log and lifetime count used to determine deposit forfeit eligibility and displayed as a reputation signal on your public profile).
Service appointment data — if you are a service provider or client, we collect proposed and confirmed appointment dates, estimated start and end times, and service location details submitted through the scheduling flow.
Pickup reservations — if you use the Reserve for Pickup feature, we collect reservation details including the item, your requested pickup time (ETA), and reservation status.
Ratings and reviews — text reviews and star ratings you submit after a completed transaction.
Business Profile information — if you create a Business Profile, we collect your business name, tagline, bio, category, location, hours, website URL, phone number, and any storefront video or logo you upload.
Business license documents — if your business operates in a regulated category (such as Food & Beverage or Automotive), we collect a photo of your license or permit, stored securely in Firebase Storage.
In-App Purchase information — if you purchase a Listing Boost or Business Tier subscription, the transaction is processed by Apple. We receive a confirmation of the purchase and your active subscription tier; we do not receive or store your payment card details.
Feedback and support — information you submit through in-app feedback forms, data export requests, or when contacting us at support@liinksgroup.com.
Reports — information you provide when reporting another user or listing for policy violations.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
Device and usage data — device type, operating system version, app version, and how you interact with the app (screens viewed, searches performed, listings tapped).
Analytics data — collected via Firebase Analytics to understand app usage patterns and improve features.
Crash reports — error logs and stack traces collected via Firebase Crashlytics to identify and fix bugs.
View and engagement data — we count how many times a listing or Business Profile is viewed or saved to improve feed relevance and provide sellers with analytics.
Push notification tokens — we store one or more device push notification tokens (FCM tokens) per account to deliver notifications across all of your signed-in devices.
Location data — if you use The Booth feature, we access your device’s approximate location to verify proximity to a neighborhood or college room. This check is performed on-device and the raw location is not transmitted to or stored on our servers beyond the verification moment. We do not continuously track your location.
Offer and price data — when a meetup is proposed or completed, we record the anonymized offer price and final transaction price as aggregate market data. This data is not linked to your identity in any user-facing display; it is used only to generate the Price Intelligence feature visible on listing pages.
1.3 Information from Third Parties
Google Sign-In — if you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google.
Stripe — when a buyer places a deposit, Stripe processes payment details directly. We receive only a payment confirmation and transaction identifier; we do not store full card numbers or bank details. When a payout is sent to a seller’s bank account, we receive a notification from Stripe and display it in the seller’s activity feed.
Agora — if you use the in-app video calling feature, Agora facilitates the audio/video stream. Agora’s own privacy policy governs their data handling.
Apple StoreKit — when you make an in-app purchase or subscribe to a Business Tier plan, Apple processes the transaction. We receive a verified receipt, your active entitlement status, and an originalTransactionId used to verify subscription status via Apple App Store Server Notifications. This identifier is stored on your Business Profile to enable server-side subscription lifecycle tracking.
Firebase App Check — we use DeviceCheck and App Attest to verify that requests to our backend come from legitimate, unmodified versions of our app.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
Create and maintain your account, authenticate your identity, and verify your phone number.
Display your listings and profile to other users of the marketplace.
Facilitate communication between buyers and sellers through Direct Messaging (Links), The Lounge, The Booth, and The Executive Suite.
Process and coordinate in-person meetup transactions and in-store pickup reservations, including escrow deposits via Stripe.
Track cancellation and no-show history to enforce our deposit cancellation and forfeit policy and to display reputation information on user profiles.
Power Business Profiles and storefronts, including displaying business information, storefront videos, service appointment scheduling, and analytics to business owners.
Generate anonymized, aggregated Price Intelligence shown on listing pages, derived from offer and close-out price data across the platform.
Provide AI-powered features, including AI-generated listing descriptions and AI-suggested chat replies. To generate these, relevant listing or conversation data is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) and is subject to Anthropic’s data handling policies. AI features are opt-in and data is not used to train third-party models.
Query third-party marketplace data (eBay) using listing titles to generate market price estimates. No personal information is sent in these queries.
Send push notifications about messages, meetup updates, reservation status changes, and activity on your listings (you can manage notification preferences in Settings).
Deliver in-app activity notifications via your in-app notification feed.
Personalize and rank the content feed using popularity signals such as view counts, save counts, and comment counts combined with relevance.
Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and policy violations — including automated AI-based moderation of listing content, images, chat messages, community room messages, and user profiles.
Improve app performance, fix bugs, and develop new features.
Respond to your support requests, feedback submissions, and data export requests.
Comply with legal obligations.
How We Share Your Information
3.1 With Other Users
Your display name, username, profile photo, listings, ratings, cancellation and no-show summary, and any content you post publicly (including Lounge, Booth, and Executive Suite messages) are visible to other users of MarketLink. Business Profile information you publish — including your business name, location, hours, storefront video, and featured listings — is publicly visible. Your phone number is never shared with other users.
Direct messages (Links) are visible only to the participants of that conversation.
3.2 With Service Providers
We share information with trusted third-party service providers that help us operate the app, including:
Google Firebase (Firestore, Storage, Authentication, Analytics, Crashlytics, Cloud Messaging, App Check) — database, file storage, authentication, analytics, and push notifications.
Stripe — payment processing, escrow deposits, and seller payouts.
Agora — real-time video calling.
OpenAI — automated content moderation of text across listings, messages, community rooms, and user profiles.
Google Cloud Vision — automated image content moderation of listing thumbnails and uploaded media.
Anthropic — AI-generated listing descriptions and AI-suggested chat replies (opt-in features only).
eBay — public marketplace price data queries using listing titles (no personal data transmitted).
Apple — in-app purchase processing, subscription management, and App Store Server Notifications.
These providers are authorized to use your information only as necessary to provide services to us and are bound by their own privacy and security obligations.
3.3 For Legal Reasons
We may disclose your information if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect the rights or safety of MarketLink, our users, or the public, or respond to a valid legal request from government authorities.
3.4 Business Transfers
If LiinksGroup is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change in ownership or control.
3.5 No Sale of Personal Data
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. MarketLink does not display third-party advertisements.
Data Retention
We retain your account information and content for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information and content from our systems within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law or to resolve disputes.
Business license documents are retained for as long as your Business Profile is active and for a reasonable period thereafter for compliance purposes.
Cancellation and no-show records are stored on your account for rolling 30-day windows (for policy enforcement) and as lifetime totals (for profile reputation). These records are deleted when your account is deleted.
Anonymized offer and price data used for Price Intelligence is retained in aggregate form and is not deleted with your account, as it contains no personally identifiable information.
You can request a copy of your data at any time through Settings → Data Export, and you can request account deletion through Settings → Delete Account.
Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:
Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
Firebase App Check to prevent unauthorized API access
Firestore Security Rules to restrict data access to authorized users only
Firebase Storage Security Rules to restrict file access to authorized owners
Stripe’s PCI-compliant infrastructure for all payment processing
Role-based access controls on backend Cloud Functions
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s Privacy
MarketLink is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@liinksgroup.com and we will delete that information promptly.
Your Rights and Choices
7.1 Account Information
You can update your display name, username, profile photo, and other profile details at any time through Settings → Edit Profile.
7.2 Notifications
You can manage push notification preferences through your device’s notification settings or within the MarketLink app under Settings → Notifications.
7.3 Data Export
You can request a copy of your account data through Settings → Data Export. We will process your request and deliver your data within a reasonable timeframe.
7.4 Account Deletion
You can permanently delete your account through Settings → Delete Account. The App will verify that you have no pending meetups and no outstanding Stripe balance before processing the deletion. Deletion removes your profile, listings, and personal data from our systems, subject to legal retention requirements. If you have an active Business Tier subscription, cancel it through your Apple ID account settings before deleting your account.
7.5 AI Features
Use of AI-powered features (listing description generation and chat reply suggestions) is optional. If you choose not to use them, no listing or message data is sent to Anthropic.
7.6 Location (The Booth)
Location access for The Booth is requested only when you attempt to join a location-gated room. You can decline location access without affecting any other feature of the app.
7.7 California Residents
If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete your information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information). Third-Party Links and Services
MarketLink may contain links to third-party websites or services (for example, meetup location maps or business websites listed on a storefront). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those third parties and encourage you to review their privacy policies.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email before the changes take effect. Your continued use of MarketLink after the effective date of the revised policy constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
